Which Teens are Most Affected?

Suicide is far more common among some groups of teens than others. Male teens are almost five times more likely than females to die by suicide, even though females are more likely to attempt suicide. While white males account for the majority of youth suicide deaths (60 percent), the suicide rate among Native American male youths is exceedingly high in comparison with the overall rate for males ten to nineteen (16.0 per 100,000 vs. 7.8 per 100,000). Although still relatively low (5.7 per 100,000 in 2000), the suicide rate has been increasing most rapidly among African American males ten to nineteen-doubling over the last twenty years.

Using the word sir often, he explained that his little brother there beside him, and Bob are friends and that they were playing and he went off and left his bike. Again, our friend should have asked when they were playing. Bob had not been home for six days. By now, the younger brother had seen the bike in the livingroom and repeated, “that’s my bike”.

Our friend became convinced these tramps were telling the truth.

“Ok, what’s your name.”

“Robert”, the boy said.

He rolled out the bike saying, “Ok, but I hope I don’t go to jail for this.”

An attempt was made to break into Joe’s shed when he was gone. Breaking into sheds is routine with the street running scum of the North Point area of Dundalk. If you leave your car unlocked, it is guaranteed the next morning it had been rummaged.

We went to cut the computer on one day after using it every day for just over a year, and only the fan was running. The blue light on the power button would not light, and it never cued the CPU to display anything. I called Gateway and they tried to be helpful, but the computer stopped working almost a year to the day we bought it - go figure! So, they suggested there was a power supply or motherboard issue and I should send the computer to them or take it to Best Buy. I had a friend look at it and he saw that the power supply was bad, and he replaced it. The computer worked fine for a day, but then would not come on again unless there was significant down time - like a week. My friend now thinks the motherboard has a short in it - does that sound logical? Any other help to provide? My hard drive and memory are intact, thank goodness. I just want my computer to work.

Well, the motherboard is fried a year and some months after we bought the computer, and Gateway wants to charge me $350 for one to replace, or “for $200 more, you can just buy a new computer tower.” The guy I spoke to from Gateway stated that the retail versions of their computers (we bought ours from HSN) have sub-standard parts placed in them to lower the price. He also stated that they don’t even put AMD processors in their computers from the plant - they only use Intel. So for those having issues with Gateways, apparently this is part of the problem. But you would think that a company would not let their good name be dragged through the mud by the retailers replacing parts and creating sub-par equipment - if in fact this is the case. Just wanted you all to know.

I also have a gateway GT5473E desktop and it is a month out of warranty and when I go to turn it on the fans come on but no power. If I mess with it long enough I can finally get the power to come on but this is ridiculous. Everyone is having the same problem with Gateway but we can’t do anything about it and it cost us money out of pocket.

Same here. Two year old machine. Would not come out of standby mode so I turned it off via the power button and then it just wouldn’t come on at all except for the fan. Left it sit for a week or so until I had time to deal with it and it did power on again. Left it running (but not connected to the internet since I’d moved it to an area where I had more room to work) and it stayed on for a few weeks with no issues (although not that useful without internet). In the middle of backing everything off onto my new external hard drive it crapped out again but was able to get it back on after a few hours wait and at least get my data. Now we’re back to only the fan noise, no other activity. I’m ready for a MAC. It is really disheartening in our era of “green” that these manufacturers just expect you to keep filling up the landfills with this expensive garbage.

I have exactly the same issue, will not power up, blue light does not come on but fan and drives appear to run. Tried replacing power supply no change. It did this ON and OFF, just after the warranty expired. If I left it OFF for a few hours it restarted- no it never does, if you have a Gateway GT4022 or the others listed back up all your sensitive data NOW.

Same no boot up/post up problem with our GT5242E bought at Circuit City on 01-05-07 and problem cropped up about a month after the warranty expired. When you press the power button everything sounds great, the PSU fan, case fan, HD, CD/DVD drive all fire up, all except for the blue LED light on the power switch; therefore, no boot up/post up. I have an older Gateway that seemed bulletproof that’s why I chose to buy the one I have now. I am HIGHLY disappointed knowing that this is a chronic motherboard problem in other machines. I am going to write Gateway about it, but I bet they will tell me to pound sand (or let them fix it for $350).
Of course, I could take the motherboard out myself and send it to a repair place I found on-line for $65.

We just experienced the same problem with our GT5242E purchased from Circuit City. Warranty is out by two months and Gateway was no help. Told me to go online and try to fix it myself. Fan comes on, power supply fan comes on, DVD drive light comes on but the blue light on the power button does not come on. We just had to replace the hard drive two weeks before the warranty ran out. I will never buy another Gateway. Had an Emachine for 4 years paid less for it than the Gateway and never had a minute’s trouble out of it.

We have the exact problem, only the fan powers on. No beeping no blue light. Worst part about this is we also purchased our Gateway GT5240E on HSN. We tried seeing if it was the hard drive but the hard drive works fine so it’s either the processor or just the motherboard. Very disappointed should have got a Mac.

Now I thought I had a great computer, but just recently it would not power up when I push the power button, I tried it about 7 times and finally the power button lit up and the fan came on, I’m refusing to cut off this computer ever again. (After a whole day of not getting in) it did start the next day, but we all know this is not normal. I have used the recovery disk 2 times, I have defragged it, use my McAfee to scan for a virus, I think I have done it all except throw it out the window. Please help, they told me to bring it in to the store to have it checked, but I got a feeling this will not help me.

We have the same problem with our main computer a GT5242E, purchased from now defunct Circuit City. We scraped together $577.49 for this abortion. Our problems began shortly after warranty expired. We went with Gateway because we believed erroneous reports that Gateway was the Cadillac of computers. Gateway produces digital shit, and is therefore listed for perpetuating an Injustice and/or Oppression. All the time we thought it was MicroShit.
